Kogi State has taken a significant step in enhancing its security architecture as Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo commissioned a state-of-the-art Smart Divisional Police Headquarters in Ekirin-Ade, Ijumu Local Government Area.

The modern facility, constructed by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, is equipped with cutting-edge surveillance systems, digital command infrastructure, and advanced operational tools designed to strengthen policing efforts and improve public safety across the region.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Ododo noted, “Today, we are not just commissioning a police station, we are unveiling a Smart Police Facility equipped with modern tools, digital surveillance systems, and infrastructure that reflects the future of policing.” He expressed profound appreciation to the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for the timely intervention and specifically commended the Executive Secretary, Mr. Femi Mohammed Sheidu, for his dedication to security development in Kogi State.

Governor Ododo also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigeria Police, and other security agencies for their collective efforts in sustaining peace and stability in the state. He urged citizens to collaborate with security operatives, stating, “Let us build a synergy that puts fear in the hearts of criminals and confidence in the hearts of our citizens. When we get the cooperation of the people, insecurity will be a thing of the past.”
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mr. Femi Mohammed Sheidu, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his continued support in repositioning the Nigeria Police Force. He described the Ekirin-Ade project as a landmark achievement in the ongoing reform, revitalisation, and modernisation of policing in Nigeria.
In his goodwill message, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, congratulated the people of Kogi State and urged the host community to safeguard the new facility and ensure it is fully utilized in the interest of public safety and effective law enforcement.
Welcoming the Governor and guests, the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Haruna Brahim, described the new police station as a bold testament to the state government’s renewed commitment to justice, community security, and responsive governance. He noted that the facility would enhance response time, foster inter-agency collaboration, and uplift the morale of security personnel.

Governor Ododo thereafter formally declared the Smart Divisional Headquarters commissioned, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to protecting lives, promoting law and order, and securing Kogi State for current and future generations.
