Kogi L-PRES Coordinator Hails Governor Ododo on Agriculture Award, Applauds Commitment to Livestock Sector

The State Project Coordinator of the Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Otaru Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza, has applauded the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on being named Governor of the Year 2024 in Agriculture by Daily Independent Newspapers Limited.

Reacting to the development in Lokoja, the L-PRES Coordinator described the recognition as timely and well deserved, emphasizing that it is a reflection of Governor Ododo’s strategic focus on repositioning agriculture as a cornerstone of Kogi State’s economy.

Otaru noted that the Governor’s deliberate political-will towards developing the agricultural sector, promoting mechanization, empowering rural farmers and prioritizing food security, have continued to yield tangible results. He further highlighted Governor Ododo’s strong commitment to livestock development, an area which he said has experienced renewed attention and significant progress under the present administration.

He remarked that the support provided by the Governor has been instrumental to the successful implementation of the World Bank-Supported L-PRES Project, which is designed to improve productivity, enhance commercialization, and build resilience on the livestock farmers along the priority value chains in the state.

“Governor Ododo’s leadership has created the enabling environment for sustainable growth in the livestock sector,” Otaru stated. “His policies are making a real impact, facilitating access to veterinary services, encouraging the adoption of improved Animal Husbandry Practices, and strengthening institutional support and collaboration amongst the key value chain actors and thousands of livestock farmers across the state.”

He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Kogi L-PRES Project Management Unit to work closely with the state government in delivering on its mandate and sustainability of the project in Kogi State.
